Russellville - day 3 & 4

A fun part of going to Russellville is patronizing our favorite shops on the town square.  We always like to pop into Pearl's Antiques and The Shop on The Square to see if there's anything we can't live without.  Gotta support the local businesses dontcha know!

Here's what I got at the antique store.  I decided before I left home that I wanted to find a special tea cup and saucer as my souvenir this time.  I've always loved Franciscan Ceramics particularly the Dessert Rose pattern.  It reminds me of the wild roses that grew near the house where I grew up.  I also got lucky to find these two cute button cards with all the buttons still attached.  I think they make a nice display with the teacup.

After the visit to the antiques store we ventured on down the street to visit Miss Sandy at The Shop on The Square.  She always has unique things in her shop.  I couldn't resist the "L" keyring and of course, couldn't pass up the Eiffel Tower pill box!

After our shopping excursion we ventured back to the Breathitt House for an afternoon of more stitching, visiting and yes, shopping.  Belinda sets up a mini shop in the parlor to tempt us even more.  You know we are all powerless to resist these things.

Here's what came home with me this time.  I got a piece of 28 ct. Picture This Plus "Jazz" to go with the Shepherd's Bush sheep chart and some Silken Ribbons called "Sherbet".  I think I'll ruche the edge with them.

I've been on a bit of a bees kick as of late so I had to get this "Be Happy" chart by Homespun Elegance as well as some blue mystery fabric to go with it.  It will make a great take along project.

I don't know what I'll do with these ribbons or the floss but they called my name.  So did that large piece of 36ct. R & R Light Espresso fabric.  I bet you know what I'm doing with those metal hearts!

Last but not least, a few charts that caught my eye.  The Summer House Stitche Workes "Symphonic Romance" chart has a really nice alphabet and I fell in love with the Cottage Garden "June's Honeysuckle" chart.  That verse is just too funny "You be my honeysuckle, I'll be your honey bee."  Yep, you knew the "Heart to Heart" chart would be in there. I've loved that one from the minute I first saw it this spring.  I also couldn't resist the Lizzie Kate "Summer String."  It has everything I love about summer in it...bees, the flag, watermelons, etc.

~oOo~

Later that evening, after dinner, we did our annual exchange.  Last year was the first year we tried an exchange and everyone had so much fun we decided to do it again.  We each pull a number out of a cup and take our turn going to pick out our "present."  That eliminates the possibility of getting your own package.  Here are all the goodies...again, watch the drooling.

This super cute bee tin was the one I picked!  How lucky was that?!  Especially since I've been on a bee kick lately.  I absolutely love it to pieces and couldn't stop looking at it.  The inside is even lined with bee fabrics.  What a way to end the night!

~oOo~

The next morning we all packed up the car and headed back to the Breathitt House for a tiny bit more stitching.  I made a little more progress on the Indigo Rose "Sweet Baby James Needlepurse."  I'm now ready to stitch side two!

Here's Señior Frog, all packed up and ready to head home.   This is the part of the retreat I hate, the saying of good-byes.  We all hugged and vowed to keep in touch throughout the year until we can get to Russellville again.  Who knows, maybe some of us will see each other in the fall at the Tiara Retreat.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Well folks,  that's the full report.  I always enjoy these getaways.  This year it was much needed and very much enjoyed.  I'm already looking forward to next time.

Thank you so much for your visit with me and your sweet comments about yesterday's post.  I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and get to spend some time stitching.

Until next time,

I just stitched "Bee Happy" - it's great fun. I don't know how you chose on your exchange - they are all wonderful. Do you know the name of the thistle piece -am going to Scotland and it would be a great one for me to stitch as a memory of the trip.

I'm sure you really did hate saying goodbye, Lisa! What a wonderful get-together :) At least it is easy to keep in touch via email and blogging these days...

Love the tiny bee tin you came home with and your new stash looks great. The tea cup will be a wonderful reminder of this year's retreat. Maybe you've started an annual tradition and will end up with an entire collection of retreat purchased teacups :)
